In 2010 Holiday World will begin operation of the worlds longest water coaster, named Wildebeest.  The ride will be two and half minutes long and will be one third of a mile long.

On August 20, 2009, Kings Dominion will hold a press conference to announce its largest capital investment program in its 35 year history.  There are rumors the investment will be NASCAR focused because of the attendees scheduled, but nothing is confirmed yet.

We’re in the process of finalizing details for a wiki inspired by this site.  It’s going to work better for park histories and general information.  All park links will eventually include a wiki link to our sister site and will provide greater detail about the park, surrounding hotels and other attractions nearby.

Six Flags has entered bankruptcy protection to help eliminate $1.8 billion of it’s $2.4 billion debt load.  The company has been trying to restructure it’s debt but has been unsuccessful in today’s economic climate.  A company spokesman has said that guests will not notice any difference in their visits to parks.

Disney is making it’s first move back into the D.C. area since giving up on plans for a history themed amusement park back in the mid 90’s.  The resort is planned to have 500 rooms and be situated in the National Harbor area.  

This could be a prelude to Disney moving forward with new park plans, or a possible purchase of Six Flags America, which has been underperforming in recent history.

A while ago we announced our intention to go with an overall industry history instead of individual company histories.  Well that conversion has been completed and now we can get back to work on the reason the site was created.

Any suggestions for what you’d like to see in the future?  Drop a comment!

Here’s what we’re working on at the moment:

• Additional park pictures
• Updated links 
• More park profiles
• We are looking at a solution to add surrounding hotel properties to individual parks.  This is only in the planning stages at this point.

We don’t spend as much time as we’d like working on the site, but one comment that has come up at least once a week is the right side links, or more particularly, the history links.   Seems alot of people are confused.  Well, we have a solution, we’ll be merging all the different entertainment companies history pages into the master history page to get rid of all those extra page links.  Hopefully, this will make the site easier to use.

Robot Land has broken ground in South Korea.  The government has set aside nearly $560 million for construction.  Expected opening date is sometime in 2013, but nothing is set in stone yet.

Disney has announced a restructuring of it’s park and resort operations.  The wide ranging restructuring includes Disneyland, Disney World, Cruise Ships and Resorts; including those that don’t have the Disney name plate.  Part of the restructuring, parts of Disneyland and Disney World will be consolidated into a single operation.  

Jay Rasulo says “the company would streamline it’s operating structure to simplify operations and in the process, reduce overhead.”  He goes on to say “The reorganization was a further step in an operational review begun back in 2005 as Walt Disney Parks and Resorts.” He also indicated the downturn in the economy move the planned changes along faster that planned.  

Operations to be consolidated include procurement, menu planning and orders for stuffed animals.  Walt Disney Imagineering group will also be simplified.  The group will no longer be split into divisions that devote themselves to one location, but wil be merged into a nationwide development group that will handle all attractions, entertainment and resorts.

The changes help align 3 groups; one that identifies possible acquisitions and park expansioins, one that implements those possibilites and a third that is in charge of operations.
